What inspired the team?

Funky Fonz is a project inspired by the integration of technology into business. The combination of the two is best represented through e-commerce (a concept that has been around since the late 20th century).

Online shopping was pioneered in 1979 by entrepreneur Michael Aldrich in the United Kingdom. Aldrich was able to connect a modified domestic television to a real-time multi-user transaction processing computer via a telephone line. The system was marketed in 1980 and offered as business-to-business systems that were then sold in the UK, Ireland, and Spain. Years have passed, and e-commerce has vastly manifested in various businesses.

Funky Fonz represents a modern e-commerce store that makes shopping fast, convenient, and easy-on-interaction. The web app is meant to give a stylish, modern & exciting feel hence Funky. It was also a great opportunity to incorporate all skills taught throughout the ALX Software Engineering Programme. We got the chance to add on to our already acquired knowledge from different fields and experiences (business & technology), making it a fulfilling task right until the end.

The ALX Programme has been a transformational journey for me. It's provided a platform to build upon my already acquired set of skills. Before joining, I was already in the tech field, and even working as a Junior Developer in a Creative Digital company. With three years' worth of frontend experience, the SE programme helped build my backend. This was a major step into the dream of being a Full Stack Software Engineer in web and app development.

Joining the ALX SE Programme was a major step into a career I was not sure of initially. Diving into the Foundations was both exciting and exhausting. I am grateful to have come this far as I was able to learn programming, adding onto my current business analytical skills. I am glad to have built one year of code experience, and still looking forward to many opportunities offered in the technology and business fields.
